Stand Up Paddle Boarding Lake Sacajawea, Longview WA

The City of Longview has truly made an effort to improve the Lake and surrounding Park. Geese with their fuzzy lil babies, ducks, and well-fed squirrels were waiting for us at the launch. The landscaping around the lake is gorgeous! We like to paddled end to end which only takes about an hour at a leisurely pace, making sure we didn’t miss any of the sights.

Although I wouldn’t want to take a dive in the murky water, Lake Sacajawea makes for a great local SUP Destination if you’re looking for a beautiful relaxing paddle that you can do after work and still make it home in time for dinner. The paddle conditions are great for paddlers of all skill levels, with a mild current on higher wind days rippling the otherwise flat water.

There is only one official launch consisting of a small gravel pathway gradually disappearing into the water. Much of the surrounding lake consists of steep banks that would make launching tough, although we were able to find a shallow sloped area to launch on the far end of the lake. Parking spots line the banks of the lake on both sides of the road wrapping the park, making finding a parking spot a non-issue.
